Breathing Mud: The Legend of the Golem by Lynne Avadenka

The Arts of the Book Collection (AOB) was established in 1967 to collect and showcase materials in the Yale Collections about the book and related arts. A research facility under the realm of the Arts Library, the collection resides in Sterling Memorial Library in a room filled with wooden bookshelves and carved decorative friezes.

The AOB collection contains information on topics such as binding, book history, illustration, calligraphy, graphic design, papermaking and decorative papers, typography, and more. Contemporary examples of artists’ books and fine printing are housed alongside more traditional publications. Additionally, AOB is the home to several named collections relating to persons who have significantly contributed to the book arts. It is a non-circulating collection that serves both Yale and the wider book arts communities. AOB welcomes visits from groups and individuals.
