The ketubah is divided into two registers. The upper register contains a circle, which includes the blessing of Isaac's blessing of Jacob, Genesis 27:28. This particular passage may have been chosen in honor of the groom whose name is Israel (Jacob). The text is written in Sephardic cursive. The scribe used very little of the space available to him and thus left a good deal of the document empty. This phenomenon is quite common in ketubot from the Ottoman Empire. The gold and silver paint used in much of the decorations has chipped off.
