Finale Emilia, Italy, 1844Bride: Elisheva called Isabella bat Mikhael Azariyah Hayim Foah The document has a scalloped top in which are the images of the three crowns of Torah, priesthood and kingship, but above them is the crown that is considered the best of them all, the crown of a good name. Along the entire rim of the outer border is a poem in Hebrew in honor of the bride and groom. The border of the text contains two images of columns. They represent the two columns of the ancient Temple in Jerusalem called Yakhin and Boaz. The text is written in Italian square characters. Though the ketubah does not have any color decorations, it is magnificent in its calligraphy and design. |
