The booklet format, of which this ketubah is an example, is unique to the Jews of Iran. It is composed of several leaves and the text on each page is set in framed panels. The first page begins with the sar lowh, an elongated decorative panel that contains the inscription "with a good sign." Marriage contracts in booklet form were quite prevalent among Muslims in Iran and they no doubt influenced Jewish ketubah design.
